The Vtech Kidizoom Smart Watch DX2, is a kid’s smart watch for kids and is gear towards kids ages 4 and older. In this Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 Review, we’ll take a look at why it’s so popular among kids and parents!
All you need to know about the Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2
What is the Kidizoom?
The Vtech Kidizoom is the latest smart watch for kids.
What age is this smart watch intended for?
It’s rated for ages 4 years and older. I personally feel like the Kidizoom is more appropriate for kids under the age of 10.
Kidizoom DX2 Features:
Basic watch features: a timer, alarm and calendar
There are dual cameras allowing the kids to easily take photos and videos easily. Additional fun can be incorporated with photo effects, frames and filters. The focus is 1.5 feet and will capture the picture if its within 18 inches away.
There’s also a built-in voice recorder, kids will have fun with the voice-changing effects.
A bright kid friendly touchscreen, kids will have no problems figuring out how to use the Kidizoom.
Lots of games. Vtech is also known for producing educational games, so there are plenty of choices to keep the kids busy. Your game library can be easily expanded through the Learning Lodge.
Note: The Learning Lodge is an online site for Vtech customers to be able to locate and download many things including games, ebooks and other educational content through the Vtech device.

Camera Specs
The Vtech Kidizoom DX2 camera is 0.3-mega pixel and can take images of 640 x 480-pixel resolutions. This should be more than enough for kids. The cameras are located on the top which is good for selfies and side of the watch where the belt and watch meets, for taking photos and videos in front. The photo is in standard JPEG format.
Video Specs
The The Vtech Kidizoom DX2 video recorder can record at a maximum of 320 x 240-pixels or minimum of 160 x 120-pixels, with 1 minute being the longest duration. The video format is AVI (Motion JPEG). The video isn’t all that great but should be good enough for the kids.
Storage Space
The Vtech Kidizoom DX2 comes equipped with 256 MB, which is enough to store up to 1,500 photos and 22 minutes 160 x 120-pixels video or 10 minutes 320 x 240-pixels.
Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 Review Final Thoughts
Vtech has done a solid job with the aesthetics design of their products. The Kidizoom is no different. They are often bright and kid friendly. Just as the products are intended for children, the price range has to be within reason for parents to spend the money. With that being said, you’re not getting the top-of-the-line technology built into the product. For example, connecting to the Learning Lodge server may take a little longer than it would on the real smart phone (iPhone, Android etc.,). In respect to the product, the kids seem to enjoy it. The customization and features are enough for them to use the product for now. I can, however, see them outgrow it by the age of 10.

Pros:
- Educational smart watch for children. This will help children develop their mind and become more acquainted with technology at an early age. There are apps that will teach them how to tell time and be more organized.
- Fun & easy to use
- Two cameras
- Splash proof’
- Many color options to choose from
Cons:
- No GPS
I would have much prefer it to have an optional feature for a GPS tracker so we know where our kids are. If that is something you’re interested in, you have to keep in mind there will be on-going costs associated with an Smart Watch GPS tracker such as the cost for a sim card, and phone service provider fees.
